Stand-Alone Power System (SPS)

A Stand Alone Power System (or remote area power system) is an off grid electricity system for remote locations which are not easily connected to the local utility (due to distance and/or cost).

It allows a community, business or farm to be more self-sufficient, sustainable and cost effective in their use of power. Many remotely located organisations and homes in Australia do not have access to a centralized electricity grid, and even when connection is possible it can cost thousands of dollars per kilometer. Alternatively, many chose to use diesel powered generators, which are expensive, can be inconvenient to refill and are damaging to the environment.

Magellan Stand Alone Power Systems are designed to operate independently of the grid, are more cost effective, release fewer emissions and supply reliable electrical load to the desired application.

Brookfield Rail’s Merredin office regularly sources power chargers from Magellan Power, and we always find it an easy process for new purchases and repairs. Their Sales & Repair Manager Shijo is prompt with responses to our queries, and on one occasion travelled to Merredin to meet with us, which we found extremely helpful.
