History
Magellan Powertronics was founded in 1992 by Masoud Abshar in Perth, Western Australia.
After emigrating from the United Kingdom for fresh opportunities, he arrived and saw there was a distinct lack of opportunity in the Power Electronics industry for Western Australian based engineers.
At the time, much of the equipment used by engineers was imported from overseas, and there was little in the way of a local manufacturing industry. After a few years working for other companies he came to see the potential in Australian engineers to design and manufacture power equipment which would be customized to suit Australian customer needs and the harsh, rugged climate. It was from then the first product, the MCRI was created.
Several years later more DC products were established such as the MCRII DC system, DC-DC converter and smaller products such as the Series IIIB and SMR.
Around 2009 Magellan expanded into industrial AC design and energy storage, and now has a range of cutting edge renewable products.
Since inception, Magellan has grown from a one-person, one-product company to the team it is today, employing research and development engineers, technicians, accountants, project managers, business development managers and more.
