What is DC UPS ?

In the industrial environment, many of the electrical equipment is powered up using DC voltage. This equipment includes protection relays, ring main units, DC motors, and more. This equipment usually has a critical function in the system and any power failure could cause a devastating interruption to the critical process which can bring about a significant financial loss. Due to this criticality, this equipment has to be protected by a battery-backed up power solution or so-called DC UPS/Battery Charger.
The function of the battery charger is to supply the critical load with reliable steady power at all times and during power out periods, use the integrated battery bank to provide continuous power to the equipment for a specific period of time. This will give the project managers and engineers insurance that the critical operation runs smoothly with no interruption.
